Minster Auctions opened its doors and the first sale was held on 13th January. Some of the old Brightwells team consisting of Owain Lloyd, Geoffrey Crofts and Daniel Webb took over the premises at the beginning of November and straight away existing and new customers by word of mouth started consigning.

The aim of the company is to bring back some of the traditional elements of a provincial auction room with Antique and Contemporary Interiors Sales held every three weeks. These sales are open for a huge array of antique and household furnishings and incorporate collections of interesting house clearance items. We are very flexible about delivery and are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday to receive items, please just give us a call on 01568 600929 or email info@minsterauctions.co.uk to book an appointment to enable a safe and socially distanced delivery in compliance with Covid19 Government Guidelines.

There will be three Fine Art Sales in March, July and November where specially selected items of fine and period furniture, paintings, silver, jewellery, object d’art, garden statuary, metal ware and porcelain will be offered.

As well as these, there will be two Collector’s Sales offering the more unusual and niche items such as toys, taxidermy, tribal art, militaria, antiquities and early books.

All the sales will be available for online bidding with easyliveauction.com. With the easing of Covid19 restrictions, we are having traditional viewing days (see “How to Buy” to book a viewing) and hopefully in the future we will be conducting auctions with an audience.

The emphasis is on providing a complete auction service from good quality modern household furnishings all the way through to fine period artwork and covering specialist subjects such as taxidermy and toys with expertise and the highest levels of professionalism.

To complete the team we will have the expertise of Roger Williams for silver and furniture, James Pearn for paintings, Caroline Atkinson for jewellery and Adrian Simmons for coins, banknotes and antiquities. Kieran Harris, the long term head porter at Brightwells, is with us coordinating the laying out of sales and assisting us when we break the computer system! Nigel Harris is with us providing his usual high level of friendly customer service in the cash office alongside Owain’s wife Tracey, our secretary.
